Shows Charles I (centre right) clad in three quarter armour attended by (left to right): cloaked bowing man with hat in right hand; standing figure in background; kneeling figure in foreground; trumpeter; man with close helmet removed; man seated on ground gesturing to the king with right hand. Inscription below: "The Entry Of Charles The First Into Chester". One of four panels of cream freestone by a "sculptor of repute" apparently selected by architect Lynn depict Roman Soldiers Building the Walls of Deva, King Egbert Uniting the Kingdom of Mercia, Hugh Lupus created Earl of Chester (by William I) and The Entry of Charles I into Chester.
