These parliamentarians were exhumed in 1661 on the orders of King Charles II and thrown in a pit in St Margaret's churchyard with the bodies of other dead parliamentarians. All the parliamentarians so treated are commemorated on a plaque erected by the Cromwell Association attached to an exterior wall of St Margaret's church .
